How does solar energy work?

Solar power works by taking energy from the sun and absorbing it via photovoltaic cells in a panel or array of panels. When light hits the cell, electrons come loose from atoms in an internal electrical field, resulting in a flow of electricity.

How long does the process take?

The process of installing panels of your home is relatively quick and most installations are completed within a few days. However, before installation begins, it will take several weeks to prepare your project and secure the necessary plans, permits and documentation.

How much do solar panels cost?

A solar install can range in price depending upon numerous factors, including the size of the system, type of equipment needed and whether the job is commercial or residential in nature. Typical solar panel systems cost between $10,000-20,000 from start to finish.

If I have solar panels, will I have power during a blackout?

While solar panels alone will not operate during a power outage, they can work when paired with battery storage.

Can I add additional solar panels to my existing system?

Yes! Many people choose to "amp up" their existing systems with extra panels, particularly with systems that were undersized to begin with. Another reason to add more panels to an array is if your energy consumption has increased significantly since first installing the system.

Do  solar panels need to be cleaned?

Since dust and debris can affect the performance of solar panels, it's important to clean them on a fairly regular basis. Fortunately, all you need to keep your panels clean is water and a hose—no fancy cleaning equipment required.

A tree limb fell and broke one of my solar panels, what do I do?

In most cases, a broken panel will need to be replaced—our team is happy to help and can get your system back up and running in no time.
